Hawthorne Boyle

Hawthorne Boyle asked Certum, their long time outsource IT partner to facilitate their move to new premises.

Hawthorne Boyle began as a two man Partnership in Greenock in 1986, and has evolved since then to a Private Limited Company with over 20 staff offering a full professional service in all disciplines of building services engineering from initial inception, feasibility reports, cost estimating and design to supervision and commissioning including all stages of pre and post tendering cost control.

Certum had advised Hawthorne Boyle that the current server infrastructure was coming close to the end of the warranty period and that an upgrade should be considered.  We were advised during the meeting that an office move would be imminent so we were tasked with project managing the upgrade of the server infrastructure and the fit out and move of the IT infrastructure and comms in the new premises.



Certum implemented a new virtualised server solution and a migration from a locally hosted email solution to our hosted exchange offering while Hawthorne Boyle were still in their existing offices. We also commissioned a high speed EFM internet solution at the new premises to provide better performance for remote working with a dedicated SLA agreement from the comms provider in case of issues. 

Before the office move Certum tested the new EFM line, installed a new wireless solution and contracted a cabling company to fit out CAT 6 cabling throughout the new offices.  We then ran our own suite of performance tools on the network making sure that all networking equipment was performing optimally before staff moved to the new premises.

Certum moved the entire IT infrastructure to the new office location over a weekend ensuring that everything was in working order for staff at the start of the working week.



Hawthorne Boyle now have an updated server infrastructure and hosted exchange email solution providing email access from any location via outlook or on mobile devices. The new office has a fast and reliable internet connection and wireless solution allowing staff and guests to connect efficiently and securely.  Certum continue to pro-actively support and monitor the new network at Hawthorne Boyle's new larger office location.
